Interesting article... 3.3m ping is not insignificant, especially in dark/smoke-filled environments. I remember doing something similar with LegOS (using the infrared port) with the original LEGO Mindstorms. I wonder if you could also defend against bears or dogs by playing with these frequencies.. mind you, 6m away from a grizzly, that UI better be clean and fast.
