Cingular and T-Mobile are not the only GSM carriers, they are the only NATIONAL GSM carriers. In fact, there are 62 GSM based carriers in the United States. Most of which are local to a certain region. Almost all of them have coverage all over the country using roaming. So, please don't think you only have two choices, depending on your area you may have many more.
