And Non-Free Software contains a built-in propagation gene which cannot evolve its medium (technology) as quickly as the license-gene for Free Software can. But evolution requires competition, and this is why I think the relationship between free and non-free software is becoming increasingly sybiotic - when private companies do something which benefit themselves and improve the quality of Free Software - it's a win/win for Freedom and Technology.
