Unfortunately, the story is a bit more complicated. The actual value depends on the respective pressure at the two points. If you touch the touch screen very lightly at point A, and rap hard at point B, the value will be close to B. If you apply roughly the same pressure at both points, it will be indeed roughly in the middle. Also, as pressure changes, the coordinates change.
