Calendar and contact sync will be by SyncML so we don't need to write desktop apps for sync. The phone appears as a USB network device among other things, so should be able to use the computer's network connection if everything's configured correctly. There might be a case for a helper app to do this I suppose. Likewise there may be a case for a friendly package selection mechanism on a big screen, but it should also be managable without.
