On my palm I have often trouble with moko theme and sometime with panel.
I must say that I reboot my palm without unmounting the filesystem
(an ext2 one).
I just rm -rf /home/root/* and next reboot is fine.

I didn't dig this but it must be saved somewhere, so I suspect gconf.
