I like this idea too. If nothing else, maybe it's possible to make an outboard USB version with its own battery. Standalone LED-lit micro-projectors have been in the works for a couple years, but usually they have had conventional video inputs. It would also be hackable if the LCD signals were available on some sort of connector or header.
