For those with a soldering iron I can recommend mintyboost [1] Works great here, two AA batteries extend the life of the Neo for about two hours.
As it is a dumb charger you need to manually activate fast charge, otherwise the Neo will only pull 100mA. Make sure you test the output voltage with a voltmeter before connecting it to the Neo for the first time. Mine gives perfect 5.02V.
