Yeah, thats what I was hoping to avoid :-) I was thinking of looking at the cost savings of implementing a mail push system versus imap idle. The server would push important mails, but otherwise my client wouldn't check unless I asked it too. Obviously the break even point depends on how many messages you get an hour.
