Hi! For those who're still interested in further liberating their GTA01's:
I've just stumbled over the http://www.gps-sdr.com/ project, which implements a full GPS solution based on SDR (software defined radio) - all in Free Software. This is actually more than the proprietary GlobalLocate software does, since the Hammerhead chip already contains corellators (and potentially other parts of the entire signal processing required for GPS RX. It would still be quite a bit of work to get this to work, mostly due to the fact that the Hammerhead register set and command language are not publicly known. Still, I thought if somebody wanted to do some work on this, it might help to know that the remaining 90% of the problem have already been solved by gps-sdr.com Just to make this clear again: GTA02 doesn't have any proprietary GPS software bits. Please don't confuse those two devices!
