I also vote for the 4 conductor 3.5mm jack. I am not 100% sure the pinout of my Blackberry Curve, but I know that I can plug in my sony mdr-ex71 headphones and get perfect sound (added to this an 8gig microsd means I dont have to take my largish iriver out and about unless I want radio or recording).
Anything to make it easier to connect to normal headphones, and maintain the mic ability with the 4 conductor connector.
