Hey there, I got my neo from pulster, too. However, a stylus was included in the package.
The keyboard isn't as bad as you think, once you get used to it, putting a dictionary of your language behind it. (long pressing on a letter puts it in, no matter what..) GPS. I really noticed that I have to have some patience (10min) even though the transister is already in it. (meaning, not touching it, in nearly ideal conditions). Also patches for saving/restoring location data, so you don't have to wait are going to be available soon. (See mailing list, a few days ago). (And AGPS support isn't in 2008.8 either, I think.) Sound: have you tried alsamixer already? You should be able to turn it down there.
