Something that could be interesting to ponder, with regards to the combo layout, is Sony's keypad add-on. It is designed so that one can run his finger over the keys and use it as a track pad, presumably via some kind of touch sensitive surface. It's a very cool idea and could be a useful control mechanism. This way, the tracker ball thing could be implemented without taking up exra space.
