The patented triangular keyboard reduces mis-typing by having unresponsive areas around each key. The same can be achieved by having unresponsive area around rectangular keys too. Easily done by making said rectangular keys smaller, without moving them closer together.
Of course, the keys are already very small, so this is problematic. They could get harder to hit. But triangles have the same problem, although they may look cooler to some.
