For the brave band of Debian users... openmoko-panel-plugin has a bug which prevents the button to force 500mA charging from working. I've described the bug, and the fix for it, in detail here: http://projects.openmoko.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=298&group_id=207&atid=867.
