Call for Papers International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics 2002 sponsored by The Machine Learning Centre of the Hebei University, Baoding, Hebei, China and the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Technical Committee on Cybernetics 4-5 November 2002, Beijing, China The First International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics (ICMLC-2002) sponsored by the Machine Learning Centre of the Hebei University (www.hbu.edu.cn) and the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Technical Committee on Cybernetics (www.isye.gatech.edu/ieee-smc), will be held in Beijing, China on 4-5 November 2002. We are living in a world which is rapidly evolving from an information-based to a knowledge-based society. In this new environment, we must be able to effectively turn the data we have into knowledge for our survival and advancement. Machine learning plays an important role in helping us generate new knowledge from data, whereas cybernetics provides a framework for the applications and implementations. This conference will bring together researchers, as well as people and organizations interested in machine learning and cybernetics applications, to exchange ideas and report progress in this important and exciting area of research and development. Topics for Submission We welcome submissions on all facets of machine learning and cybernetics. Topics of interest include, but not limited to the following: adaptive system artificial neural networks bayesian networks case-based reasoning cognitive modeling cooperative learning Data mining Decision tree learning evolutionary computation feature selection fuzzy control fuzzy logic fuzzy mathematics fuzzy reasoning fuzzy systems and theory grammatical inference hybrid algorithms inductive learning information retrieval and learning knowledge discovery in databases knowledge management / learning machine learning of natural language multi-agent learning multi-strategy learning pattern recognition planning and learning plausible reasoning reinforcement learning revision and restructuring statistical learning Support vector machine vision and learning web mining Wavelet &Multiresolution Processing Important Dates Submissions due: 1 August 2002 Notification of acceptance: 15 August 2002 Camera-ready copies of accepted papers due: 15 September 2002 Conference: 4-5 November, 2002 Paper Submission We invite original papers in machine learning and cybernetics covered by the above topics or any other relevant topics of interest. The papers should not be presently submitted to other conferences. All authors whose papers are accepted for publication in the Conference Proceedings must sign the IEEE Copyright Transfer & Export Control Form (URL: http://www.ieee.org/about/documentation/copyright/ cfrmlink.htm). Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings which will be included in the citation index databases INSPEC and Ei/Compendex. ------------------- MLnet community list http://www.mlnet.org/mlnet2/services/mlnet-community.html
