Just in time to add to your holiday reading list, the last Opencast Matterhorn newsletter of 2010 is now available at http://www.opencastproject.org/newsletter/2000.

Preview of what you'll find in this issue:

*Coming soon: Matterhorn 1.1 and Matterhorn 1.01*
Get a glimpse of the features currently in progress for the 1.1 release. And if you're planning a Spring pilot, you'll want to know about the 1.01 Maintenance release scheduled for early January.

*Integrate with Matterhorn*
The release of Matterhorn 1.0 paved the way for integration work to begin. Matterhorn is designed with the enterprise in mind, with the understanding that Matterhorn is but one cog (or several, in some cases) in the machine. We are especially excited at the prospect of those implementations of Matterhorn toward building a more coherent learning experience for students.

*Opencast Matterhorn Community-Driven Roadmap for the Future*
As a community-driven project, the further development of Opencast Matterhorn depends on the contributions and the commitment of community members, individual and institutional alike. This participatory model sees two major development efforts

*Featured Pilot School: Lernfunk Goes Matterhorn*
When it comes to lecture recording, the University of Osnabruck in Northern Germany offers a unique blend of long-lasting experience, technological innovation, various research efforts around the user experience, a dedicated didactical perspective and enthusiasm with the service they provide.

*Featured Pilot School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln*
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been a core contributor to the Opencast Matterhorn project from its beginnings in 2007. Bruce Sandhorst, Instructional Technology Coordinator, has led UNL's involvement in Opencast, part of which included a commitment of development staff toward the project. In addition, Bruce has been an active participant on the Opencast Matterhorn board, has given several presentations at regional and national conferences evangelizing the project, and his team hosted a "base camp" for other institutions to test and learn about Matterhorn.
