Hi Olutayo,

We have a small investigative project starting mid summer looking at
Adobe Flex 4.5 for cross platform development on android, blackberry,
and iOS tablets. Our initial focus will be on making tuned encoding
profiles for these platforms, followed by application development to
see how well Flex can package for each with a single codebase. Not
sure this is what you are looking for, but it might be interesting
anyways.

And right now Matterhorn doesn't do anything with SMS, but if you have
an SMS gateway and Java API to us it it would be fairly straight
forward to write a workflow operation handler that can inform
students/others of published recordings (or errors). There's a
template for workflow operation handlers here that you could start
with, and more in the matterhorn-conductor package of the main codebase:

http://opencast.jira.com/svn/MH/contrib/workflow-operation-handlers/1.1.x/template/
