Not overly surprising given that ePresence is .net based as is d2l.
ePresence was a research project out of the U of T that was open
sourced three or so years ago then sunk back into closed sourcedness
and now I guess has been sold off to D2L.  It was similar in hardware
to early echo/apresso boxes, using PCs and osprey cards for multiple
stream capture at once, though I'm not familiar with their current
designs.
