First off, welcome! Your first step is probably going to be upgrading the firmware. The newest firmware is available from http://www.epiphan.com/downloads/firmware/Davinci_Matterhorn/beta.php. The device has an onboard configuration system which appears at http://$my_device/admin. Some best practices for the encoding settings: 1) Turn on all the streams if you might use them at any point. The admin UI will give you the option of turning off a stream, but it cannot override the device's onboard input settings. 2) Higher encoding settings require more processing power from the device, and it is quite possible to overload it. Experiment with the settings, lower bitrates are entirely watchable much of the time. 3) I recommend PCM audio. It makes the files a little bigger, but the mp3 encoding is done in software so it's fairly expensive for the device. Please let us know on the matterhorn-users list if you encounter any issues.
