Hello Olaf,

We are ready and welcome the opportunity to help test the Admin UI components
you have outlined below.

Hello All

The doodle says next week is the date you prefer for the bug bash, so next week
it is!

Some clarifications to start with: The bug bash is a coordinated effort to
identify bugs and flaws in the 1.4 release. It's not about fixing bugs and it's
not a developers' thing. Everyone can participate and we'll try to make it as
easy as it can be. The goal is to identify a maximum number of bugs in a
coordinated effort - and this is where the developers then come into play.
Participants who can patch an issue easily should feel free to attach patches,
but this is by no means required.

In order to do this in an orderly fashion and to provide a controlled
environment, Greg Logan, our QA manager, has set up

http://opencast.jira.com/wiki/display/MH/QA+Status

as a point of reference – more details to follow on how to use this during the
bug bash. Greg will also set up a number of VM for participants to use. People
will then get assignments in the form of things to test in different areas and
report any bug or problem they come across. For this, Greg will also provide a
screencast on how to report bugs by the end of this week.

Tuesday next week (August 14th) will see an initial meeting to coordinate
efforts beyond what is being described here. We'll meet at

3 p.m. UTC/GMT (5 p.m. CET, 11 a.m. EDT, 8 a.m. PDT; the normal weekly
developers' meeting will need to move, those interested in that should look on
the matterhorn@ email list for more details).

By the end of that meeting, everyone should know what to do and work will
proceed locally. In order for questions to be answered and to have a progress
report, we'll also meet on Wednesday at the same time. Thursday then will see
the final meeting to wrap up things. All meetings happen in our BBB meeting
room athttp://matterhorn.bigbluebutton.org/matterhorn/ (Opencast Matterhorn -1
(recorded); password is "welcome").

Grouping
As indicated, we would like different people to look into different areas, in
order to avoid developers testing their "own" contributions and to cater for
institutional preferences. Here's the initial grouping I made up based on your
feedback (sorry if the formatting goes wrong here):

Auth: Olli Salo (not confirmed); Markus Ketterl
Admin UI, Recordings Tab, CA Tab, Series Tab, Statistics Tab: Earl Schellhous,
Charlie Turner
Capture Agent: Kevin Chan, Stuart Phillipson
LTI: Leslaw Zieleznik (only Tuesday?); UCT?
OAIPMH: Entwine
Trim, Export: Olaf A. Schulte, Michelle Ziegmann
Streaming: Adam McKenzie
Upload: Sergio Feria
Workflows: Entwine, Markus Borzechowski
Search: Pawel Fic, Michal Bryk
Scripts, Scheduling: Rüdiger Rolf
Documentation: Mike Nardell, Greg Logan

Wild card: Brian O'Hagan

Please let me know whether this suits you. If your name is missing (Jonathan
Eva e.g.) or if you can participate despite indicating differently in the
doodle, please contact us. Also, let us know if you’re not available.

Finally, a heads-up that the date next week depends on some technical problems
being solved. If this turns out to be more difficult than we consider it at
this stage, we might have to postpone the bug bash for a week, which might
result in some re-grouping due to individual availability.

Thanks for your help with this. Feel free to raise issues and ask questions, on
list or to Greg, Brian, and myself. If there's need for further clarification,
we could add a meeting on Monday. And, I should mention that this is a
competitive effort also. There are some prizes available for those to report
the maximum number of bugs and - just a thought - for reporting the most
original bug. Details to be discussed on Tuesday.

Hope to see you there!

Regards

The bug bash team (Greg, Michelle, Brian, Olaf A.)

Betreff: [Matterhorn-users] Opencast Matterhorn - Final bug bash reminder

Hello All. Just a friendly reminder as we will soon move to finalize plans:

If you have yet to do so already, please indicate your availability for
participating in the Matterhorn 1.4 bug bash [1], [2] at

https://ethz.doodle.com/skeq9tspndvc8ef9

and register at http://fwd4.me/16Qq if you can make at least one of the slots.
And if there's any way you can facilitate their taking part locally by treating
them to coffee, (soft) drinks or anything that is appropriate for your time
zone, that would be great!

We will come back to the list to set a date and inform you about the details.
If you want to know more about the bug bash beforehand, feel free to contact
the Matterhorn QA Manager Greg Logan (CC). He will of course send more details
to the lists prior to the meeting.

Thank you for your support,

The Opencast Board
