Samantha,
I missed that episode because I don't have a television, but I'm guessing it
was re-crete... Broken up bits of sidewalk and driveway with the broken edge
facing out. Easy to stack, nice texture, free, half the weight of natural
stone, flat on two sides so it's easy to level and mosses/molds over nicely.

Or it could have been frozen burlap, I have no idea, never been to san
francisco. Just taking a wild leap! Doesn't anyone from san francisco read
this list anymore?

Good luck with it, whatever you use.

Subject: [Community_garden] san fran victory garden borders

I  was watching the Victory Garden on PBS and they highlighted the San
Francisco victory garden on City Hall.  They mentioned the borders (raised
beds) that looked like burlap but it wasn't it was some kind of recycled
product found locally.  Does anyone know what it is and how it would be
superior to burlap?  and has anyone done a bed like that, how does it stand up
over time?  what are the limitations...I'm in Cleveland so we get frozen ground
and heaving that San Fran might not get...thanks!
