I agree Ken, and that's why I am looking into ways making my own biochar from 
stuff that is free.  Some of my VERY GREEN friends already do. My friend Lisa 
is a trained permaculture expert and I expressed to her my concern about 
biochar. She assured me that biochar is an environmentally sound practice and 
that it actually sequesters CO2, keeping it away from the air. I addition it 
saves water and fertilizer, both good for the earth and thrift. We are also 
looking into getting free biochar from Jack Daniels and George Dickel 
distilleries, where it is a waste product and currently goes to a landfill.
