Sorry about that, I think the install instructions for the edge branch might
be out of sync. In any case, the easiest way to install CE using edge is:
rails your_app_name -m
http://www.communityengine.org/edge_install_template.rb
Can you try it that way? I'll also take a look at the edge README and
get it updated.

No. At this point both edge AND master use Desert.
