If I recall, the 'strange problem' had to do with redesigning the
_case_ to accommodate the physical differences. I've got an
auto-inject drive from an older Performa working perfectly on a 475
motherboard/case that originally came with a manual inject-drive. It
works *only* if it is running topless!
Also, both of my drives are SuperDrives. Is the SE drive 800K only?
A disk upgrade may be in order ... HTH. -d
