Friends don't let friends decode on pee-cee's. Here's why:

1) Long file names get screwy.
2) all letters BECOME CAPITAL LETTERS.
3) Attributes are lost; The icon for x-ferred files becomes a blue
"PC" meaning that the Mac thinks the file is a PC file. There are
ways around this ... the earlier Hypercard thread might help (ie,
opening x-ferred files NOT by clicking on them in Finder, but from the
application they need to be using - ie, Stuffit Expander, Hypercard, etc.).
4) Macs create several directories/files on PC-formatted media. I
hear that pee-cee users find this confusing.
5) Different revision numbers of Stuffit Expander work differently.
You may want to try an older version of Stuffit Expander (even if you
decide to stick to the pee-cee method).
