Ok Pickle, here we go. Took the IIsi 512k ROM SIMM ( 820-0296-B )
dated '1989', and swapped it with the 512K ROM SIMM-32 ( 820-0244-A )
dated 1988, that was in the SE/30. ( SE/30 MB No. 820-0260-10 )
At startup, the first thing that happened was the screen went all
Checkerboard, the squares were about 2 mm. Then went gray for about five
seconds, then the Happy MAC, the Startup screen, then this message - "The
'System' file on this start up disk may be damaged. The installer can be
used to repair this disk." Well I do not have the original disks so I
tried my 6.0.8 startup disk, and got this message - "This startup disk
was created with a 'Minimum' installer script and will not work on this
model Macintosh. Use a Standard installer script to update the disk for
different Models." Okay, so now I hookup the external HDD that has
system 7.5.3. Well it made it to the startup screen and stopped there.
Restarted with shift key held down, and it hung at the 'Extension off '
screen.
Any advice, other than, 'Get an Installer disk dummy.' Hey, I tried
it with what I had too work with, software and my limited knowledge of
MACs.
