Just like everyone who owns one, I have been concerned about the Heat
that my Plus creates, and have been trying to do something about it,
Cheaply. Well, I have come up with something that I want to pass on,
because it works so Darn well, is Cheap to make, with Very little fan
noise.
I took two pieces of heavy duty Aluminum Foil, six inches long, and
about twice as wide as the handle hole, about eight inches wide, and
folded each one to fit the hole, then shaped them into two pieces ( upper
and lower ) so that they would go together to make a wedge that fit into
the handle hole, leaving a square hole the size of the fan I used on the
other end, two and a half inches square, ( the fan I used was out of a
Classic II that I have that does not work ) add a little duct tape to
keep the two halves, and the fan together, and that part is done.
Now for the quiet sound of the fan, I used an AC 120v adapter that
converts to 9v DC. This makes the fan turn slower, with much less noise,
( almost none at all ) but still has enough flow to suck Lots of cool air
throgh the lower vents, and it makes the Plus cooler to the touch that my
SE/30. I would imagine a converter that puts out 6v DC would turn even
slower, with the same outcome, a Much cooler Plus.
