Hello. I answered rather hastily, and must add this:
Is it possible to do a Custom Install of OS 7.5, and just add the components you will need to your Mac Classic? Also, is it possible to install 7.5 on another machine and copy files to your Classic on floppies? I have not tried this, but have managed to boot my Classic using 7.5.3 from a 1.4MB floppy disk. It took up most of the RAM. Do you really want to use 7.5? I use 7.1. I hear that OS installers must make Temporary Files on the hard disk they are working on, if that disk is also the startup disk. The temporaries take up space while installing, but are deleted at the next restart... or something. Well... Consider yourself lucky that you have a 40MB internal HD, anyway! Mine never came with one -- they were optional -- I added a 30MB external. Don't Classics look nice and friendly? Have you seen yours in a mirror? They look really odd back to front! Oh... I'm rambling on now. Oh! Here's a neat trick! Start up your Classic without ANY disk... "HOW?" you ask (unless you already know.) Switch it on, or restart, holding down COMMAND-OPTION, and the keys "X" and "O". You must do this before the Smiley Mac icon appears. The computer boots very fast off it's ROM, into system 6.0.3. Granted... not useful, but amusing. Next restart, it should boot using your normal disk again. Note that 6.0.3 is not a recommended OS for the Classic, though. The designers didn't have enough spare ROM for anything larger. Just be greatful that its there, because NO OTHER MAC CAN DO THAT!! If you have any nice "compact" tricks like that (like how to put more than 4MB of RAM in a Classic ;-) then stay in touch! I'm not a very technical person, but I "aten't" thick!
