Apart from the physical issue - you need either a crossover Ethernet cable or two cables and a hub - there's a s/w issue. Basically, early Macs use 'pure' AppleTalk, while later versions of Mac OS use AppleTalk over TCP/IP. This was discussed recently on the uk.comp.sys.mac newsgroup. The thread can be found on Google at http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&safe=off&th=43d87e2c4e498567&rnum=1 The 56 articles can be summarised thus: Apple Knowledge base article 106262 - Mac OS X 10.0: Connecting to AppleShare or File Sharing Requires TCP/IP. Possibly, this only applies from 10.1, though. hth, Stuart Stuart Bell ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://homepages.tesco.net/~macaddict/PowerCC.html Colo(u)r Classic Forum at: http://www.voy.com/24978/ -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
