Well, it's supply and demand. It's kinda like buying outright a completely
restored '65 Ford Mustang. I mean, isn't the fun restoring it on your own
and seeing it come back to life better than ever? To me, the fun part is
unbolting everything and making parts that weren't necessarily made for it
work 2-3 times better than the original design :-) . Compact Macs weren't
designed to run at G3 levels which is what is so ridiculous about the price,
even his PowerPC-powered CC's. But that's supply and demand. Some people
just want the package delivered to them, like any other toy. Personally I
think it's crazy to pay that kind of money for a hot-rod CC when you could
buy a used iMac for $500-$800 and have a thoroughly modern computer with a
much larger screen. Hell, an LC575 with a PowerPC upgrade card would cost
less than this guy's PPC-powered CC's and you'd get a 13' color VGA screen
with no modification and built in CD player/reader !! BTW why are people
cannibalizing these all-in-one low end Mac's for a Mac with a smaller screen
and no CD player? I'd like to know cause I'm doing it myself :-) ....must
be the tinkerers in all of us. As for violating the CCSCC's requests of not
profiting from the upgrading of Compact Macs, just remember--the jackals
outnumber the other animals in the wild 10 to 1. Just my .02
