I think I know the reason why mac classic is so slow (Requiring about 2-3 minutes to load System 7.0, etc.):
Details on my Mac Classic: * GREAT condition, after restoring it from a sticky food and coke mess (I restore computers to like new condition; a hobby of mine!) * Added 4MB or RAM (I was lucky it had a daughterboard for the extra RAM) * System 7.0.0 * My needed fun and useful control panels: Sleeper, Basic Black, Bongo Bob, LockOUT, Auto menus, ConfigPPP and macTCP, Super Apple, MountImage, WDef III (for that NeXTSTEP look), Guard Dog, AltCDEF, Clock Adjust, FAX, and lastly, ChangeArrow!** * Development, Games, Word Processors and Text Editors, Internet (NCSA Telnet, MacWEB 1.1.1E, Eudora 1.3.1, etc.), and tons more that equal a total of 21.5MB on my HD...** * 40MB HD * 56K Modem (Only works reliably at 9600bps) Cool Mac, huh? (Were you drooling, Mark???) But I think all this is the reason it is so slow, albeit the ancient hardware...But I will gladly accept System 7.1, if I can find an SEA.HQX version, although it will probably slow it down even more, but hey! I have 18.7MB on the HD to spare, and will get rid of anything I don't use on the HD if space doesn't permit! I have nothing else to put on my Mac anyway! **: Courtesy to "System 6 Heaven!"
