You're confusing the PPC upgrade card for the 575 logic board with a
'proper' Colo(u)r Classic which has a full PPC logic board and runs just as
fast as the machine the l/b came from. The former are very slow, and rather
expensive for what they offer. The latter get cheaper every month, but
require a lot of plastic surgery and rewiring.  A CC with a 6500/275 logic
board is fast - with a G3 it will be thrice the speed.

I'm at the early stages of putting a beige G3 logic board in a CC. With a
G4 CPU installed, Mac OS X on a CC should be pretty neat!
