These select the SCSI ID. There should be three, which make the binary
equivalent of the numbers 0 to 7. If all 3 connectors are in place then the ID
is 7, but for the startup drive (internal) you need ID 0 which is very
simple.... no connectors :-).
AFAIK you must have terminators on your internal drive. If you look at an
original Apple drive you will see the terminations as single-in-line packages
near the SCSI connector. If your drive does not have internal termination then
you will have to add some to the end of the flat cable.
For third party drives you have to use a third party HD setup program to format
and mount the drive.
I found LIDO 7.56 on the web and I managed to install a HP 2.2G drive in a
compact this way.
