They permit using the DayStar Universal PowerCache accelerators in that slot.
The original DayStar accelerator for the SE30 plugged into the logic board
and  required desoldering the 68030.
It had to be sent back to the factory for that.
The adapter transforms the slot into a IIci type PDS which made it much
easier, via plug and play.
