Have a SE/30 that my toddler adores. Turned it on and only get a pattern of vertical lines on the screen. Heard the fan and hard drive start-up but didn't get a Happy Mac or even a question mark or error code. No tones of death. Just lines.
Took out the logic board and traded it with an SE board. (Was this a bad idea??) After turning it on, get nothing (no video) but a pop-pop-pop-pop sound. My toddler is going around the house imitating the sound so if you really need to hear the *exact* sound, give me a call, he'll be making it the next 6 or so hours. Could it be the power supply? Something as simple as a PRAM battery? Any easy fix? (my electronics skills end at screws and plugs, maybe a little Dremel : ) but no soldering!) Figure this is my excuse to hit the thrift shops and find the little tyke a proper replacement. (Like I *need* an excuse to bring another Mac home...)
