Yup, you are.

A high speed modem cable is also known as a "hardware handshaking" cable,
because it has the RTS and CTS (ready to send and clear to send) pins on the
DB connector wired to the handshaking pins on the Mac serial side.

Any reasonably modern Mac modem cable should support hardware handshaking.
