SInce, hopefully, this will be a short thread, I'll reply on list! ;-)

Having packed an awful lot of stuff in the past couple of years, to
survive the worst of the notorious parcel service of the British Royal
Mail, my advice would be:

1. Ideally ship inside a case - i.e. strip everything else out but the
CRT. The cost of the extra weight is well worth it! Too late for you,
though. . . .

2. Above all, do not just use loose-fill polystyrene bits or similar.
They settle in transit, exposing the contents, and often allowing the
tube or whatever to get close to the carton. Even with a 'full carton'
they settle, just like nuts rise to the top in Muesli! Heavy items like
a CRT tube are particularly vulnerable to damage from shifting to the
top like that.

3. I recommend 'bubble wrap'. Wrap it round the CRT several times, and
also fill out the carton.

4. Make sure the narrow neck end is well protected - that's the most
vulnerable part by far.

5. Cross your fingers - CRT tubes are sooo fragile.
