I realize this is likely a dead thread by now (AT&T Broadband - my ISP - has
been down for two!!! bloody days), however ...

> >I have a chance to get one of two Apple StyleWriters - one is a
StyleWriter
> >II, the other a StyleWriter 1200 - for about US$30 to use with my
...Classic

The 1200 software - the software diskettes that originally shipped with it
from Apple, at least - requires color QuickDraw (not a color display, just
color QD). Which means a 68030 processor minimum (and maybe color QD will
run on a 68020, too lazy to look ...and I'm also too lazy to check to the
processor on a Classic, but IIRC it's a 68000).

So the 1200 (nice printer, still have the no-longer-new one I bought in
'95), will work on a Classic II (which is what I originally used it with)
and an SE/30, but nothing older, CPU-wise (again, as far as the "stock" 1200
software that came on the original diskettes, goes ...I don't know if the
1200 works with any other drivers/software, which would alter this post's
conclusion ...and yes, I still have the original diskettes, should anyone be
interested).

...so if you're trying to use a 1200 with an SE (or Classic), get the
Stylewriter II (this part of the recommend is based upon an admittedly
faulty, 7 year old memory of what I read way back then about the Stylewriter
II, and I may be confusing the "II" part with the original Stylewriter,
which definitely would be suitable with anything ...apologies).
