Yes, there is a 20Mb one that's not a SCSI device. If it's plug fits into
the external floppy connector of your 512, it is the right one :)

Yes, here's an alternative (without the RaWrite that's used in the FAQ)
drill for 1,4Mb floppies:

                                                          How to install
MAC OS from a PC onto a 1.4 Mb Floppy compact Mac (SE, Classic etc):
1. Download a MacOS, for example:
ftp://ftphqx.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Englis
h-North_American/Macintosh/System/Older_System/System_6.0.x/
SSW_6.0.8-1.4MB_ Disk1of2.sea.hqx
2. Download the PC version of stuffit expander from www.aladdinsys.com
3. Unstuff and un-"sea" the system files to a new folder on your hard disk
4. Download Winimage from www.winimage.com
5. Open winimage, and do:
File-> Open-> Point it at the system disk image file that you unstuffed.
Winimage doesn't know about Mac image files so the file list remains blank.
The label box should read MAC:System
6. Put in a 1.44MB floppy that is free from errors and do:
Disk-> Write. When it has finished, remove the disk and boot your mac from
it. The disk also contains Apple HD SC Setup so that you can format your
internal disk.
7. Drag the contents of the floppy into the freshly formatted hard disk and
open, then close the system folder.
8. Then do:
Special -> Restart. The disk should eject and hopefully, the machine should
boot from the HD.

For 800k or 400k drives (Mac 128 and 512 etc), this cannot be done directly
from PC. So do the above on a 1,4 Mb machine and then transfer the system
folder to a 400 or 800k flop from there. Note that the quoted system 6.0.8
system may be too much for those oldies, so you might want to do step 1 for
an older MacOS. You can find these on the Net.

good luck,

-mart
