My 12 y.o. son rescued a 6400/180 from his school dumpster (didn't I train him
well :-). Unfortunately, I didn't get to it soon enough. My boys have had the
case apart, and it seems like many of the plastic tabs, that hold the panels on,
either were broken, or got broken in the process. Of course it still powers up
(I stopped them before they got the metalwork apart) but, it may not go back
together completely. On boot from the HD, it reports a bus error. When I booted
from a disk tools floppy, it worked one time, then gave an insufficient memory
error.

So back OT.....

It has a 1.6Gb HD but I think its IDE, so I can't use it on my compacts (Classic
II, and SE/30), however it also has a CDROM which I think is SCSI.

I have an empty external SCSI case (non Apple) which has two "bays". I had
envisioned installing an Apple HD and CDROM in the case. Before I just try it,
does anyone know if the CDROM from a PPC 6400 could be used with a 68K compact
Mac? If I can do this then I'll probably just break the rest for spares (profits
to go to my son of course :-).

Cheers,
       John
