The SE/30 will not run an OS version later than OS 7.5.5. You need OS 
8.1 to access HFS+ formatted drives so it will not recognise them. If 
you are running System 7.0 or earlier it may also not read 2GB 
partitions, you may have to split the drive into 2 or more partitions 
using Apple HD SC Setup.
