I suggest shelves. Thick ones, where the supporting elements are hidden
inside. These exist. First you screw the supports to the wall, then you
slide the shelves over them. Looks neat.

Width: let's say 5 compacts, with generous space between them;
Hiegth: One single (piece of) wall, all the way up. Starting a few inches
above the floor, and then 4 or 5 of them.

Easy advice, 'cause I have only 3 compacts :)
