Problem: I can't insert disks into the floppy drive because there's
significant resistance when I have it most of the way in.

Computer: Powerbook 140 (which is covered under the once removed rule,
though it does seem somewhat unlikely that this is something quite that
computer specific though)

Probable cause, explained with my usual failed attempt at leaving out
peripheral irrelevant detail: I'm getting stuff off masses of floppy
disks (in part madly searching for crystal quest--btw would anyone happen
to have that?) I came across one that had a distorted metal part, and
though I didn't remember what was on the disk remembered how I had solved
the problem with a G3 powerbook; I removed the metal part, put the disk in
the drive, and put the metal part back on to keep it protected. That all
worked as expected and it was when I tried to stick the next disk in that
it had problems.

What I've tried: Restarting the computer, sticking a paperclip in the
manual eject hole, and shacking the computer and looking in the floppy
drive to see if there could have possibly been something in there (there
doesn't seem to be.)

Request: Anyone know what the problem is/what to do about it?

Completely and utterly unecessary explanation of what I want that floppy
drive for: (1) It's the only computer with a floppy drive in my parents
house, and I'm not hauling the plethora of floppies across the country
where I'm going to be for a month before both floppies and I end up where
we really belong and (2) I'm intending to set up the powerbook for a
friend who needs a laptop that simply allows him to write when he's away
from home and transfer it onto his main computer when he gets back.

The problem with this email: The writer having been awake for twenty
two hours.

Said writer: Cayenne.
