Sophisticated or not. This heavy duty 4.5 army/boy scout battery the
size of a box of cigarettes works! My plus remembers its pram
settings after being shut down.
I have reattached the wires but this time a bit more secure without
the cellotape and the results are good. I know the #840 is supposed
to be the better solution, but I'm going to stick with this monster
for a while because I already bought it and I can't use the battery
for anything else.
It says 4.5 volt and alkaline and that is also what the Apple
specifications page is saying. 4.5 euro isn't a bad deal for a plus
pram battery that has the potential to last a lifetime.
I understand there might be a problem with this battery being more
crude than the 523 and the 840, maybe dropping the voltage .5 volt
over time, but maybe these batteries, that were popular in the
sixties, have been improved over time. Varta is supposed to make good
batteries. Maybe the 2002 Varta is just as good as the late '80's
Energizer 523 that I used before in this plus.

Greetings from a happy Marten
