Hi, I've recently subscribed and noticed that drive problems seem quite common - so apologies if this is obvious.
I have an external SC40 (with Sony 40MB drive). I formatted it on a Power PC with MicroNet utils. Drive runs fine (SCSI ID6). I have 4 compacts: Compact Classic, 2 MEG Ram, Internal 40 MB SCSI (ID0) (System 6.x) Compact Classic, 1 MEG Ram, no HD SE FDHD 4 Meg Ram internal 40 Meg drive. (System 7.x) Plus 1 Meg no HD Try as I might the only one that recognises the external drive is the Compact with the internal drive. I've tried switching the cable from bottom to top (which I did need to do to get it to work on the Compact with the HD) on all machines but to no avail. If I plug the SCSI cable into either the Power PC or the first Classic it's fine. Do the other three need a kick or what? Martin -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
