Ah ha!  I think the problem is that these zips have been in the newer 
drives, and are hence unreadable...

I'm left with a problem because I'm trying to transfer info from my 
TiBook (which is on the internet) to my classic, and hence the disk 
needs to go in the newer drive first... but at least I know I'm not 
going crazy -- it used to work :)
