I went out to get somebody connected to the internet today. They were running an old Dell with Windohze 98 Sadists Edition on it. It was pretty easy although I had to un-install IE 5.5 to re-install the connection package - really constructive!
Anyway! I looked on the desk behind me and there was a Classic. It is very slightly yellow, and the SCSI and Floppy ports on the back plate are rusty. I said "man - I haven't seen one of those in a while (which is a lie as there is one in the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and I wemt in July)". The answer I got astounded me "you fix this PC and you can have it, bought it in a boot sale and never use it". There ya go. I got her home and ran her up only to be deafened by the sound of very dry drive bearings (c'mon you guys know what I mean). The 40SC that was in it went straight in the 'take apart for platers' bin. I installed a spare 160MB Conner (it also sounds like it's drying out) to at least reduce the noise to a level where I could concentrate while using it :). It has a 4MB upgrade and the tube is in really good shape. I also like the way you can get to all the adjusters through the flap on the back :). -- Mark Benson AIM - SilValleyPirate Visit FlatPackMacs online: <http://fpm.gotdns.com> Mac LC Central -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
