sometimes the drive is packed with dust.
A disk can be destroyed when the head takes a grain
of dirt and digs a track into floppy media.

A disassemble and clean with a can of air may restore the drive
to new-like condition.

Otherwise, you can find another boot floppy or do the option-command-x-o
thing to boot the machine.
