Yo compacters everywhere, Our Marten van de Kraats <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> advises:
>????!!!! > >If you find a SE you should ditch the classic and use the SE instead. Why? They are both good Macs. And the user already has the Classic. I think not. >The SE is the superiour machine. It has a expansion slot... Amazing the way people fascinate on that slot. 95% of the SEs across my bench have never had anything in that slot. Most that do have an ethernet card installed. Big whoop! You can ethernet off the Classic's SCSI if this is important. The Classic is a tiny shade faster than the SE (Speedometer and Disk Doctor both say so). On average, the Classic is four years newer than an SE with far less wear, tear, and yellowing. The logic parts of the Classic are of newer architecture less prone to softwear conflict. No one on this forum mentions capacitor problems with the Classic as is frequent with the SE. The Classic will certainly run System 6.07 or System 6.08 just as fine as the SE, only faster. And the Classic has that built-in ROM disk to help you out of a jam. "The SE is the superiour machine"? I think not. >...(the SE)looks better (in my opinion anyway). There is no accounting for my tastes either. >If you wanna rob some mac of its drive, take it from some LC. They are cheaper second >hand. and from your later post: >Why should anyone dare kill a compact mac? Yeah! Marten, we do agree, (Sorry Jeff.). I love this forum.
